Pelletier Wins Eastern Classic

Six time DPBA pro tour champion, Ron Pelletier of New Bedford, Massachusetts won the prestigious 82nd Annual Frank Barber Eastern Duckpin Classic during the weekends of February 25-26 and March 3-4. Pelletier rolled scores of 948 (games of 129-207-137-143-151-181) and 929 (games of 173-139-135-183-141-158) in his two 6-game blocks to attain the winning score of 1877. Glen Burnie, Maryland's John Deantoniis was 2nd with a score of 1828, and a close 3rd was Baltimore, Maryland's Mark Berends with an 1822 total. Pelletier won $2,000.00, while Deantoniis pocketed $1000.00, and Berends took home $500.00. Lucky Strike Lanes in Mansfield, Connecticut hosted the event that included 95 entries. In the handicap division, Brandon Ganoe rolled a 2077 total for the $300.00 top prize. Finishing 2nd in the handicap section was Pelletier with 2048 for an additional $150.00, and Phil Foreman came in 3rd with a 2021 score for $90.00.

John DePalma of North Chelmsford, Connecticut won the "Over 60" award for best 12-game scratch total with 1650, earning $82.00. Special "out of the money" awards sponsored by the Bowler's Association of Connecticut and Rhode Island Duckpin Proprietor's Association went to Mike Trepanier (for Connecticut) with a 1658 score, and Will Rigney (for Rhode Island) who shot 1654.

Class "B" awards were paid out to bowlers with an average of 132 or less. Phil Foreman won $300.00 for 1st with 1751, Brandon Ganoe rolled 1735 for the 2nd prize of $150.00, and Jack Dansereau won $90.00 for 3rd place with 1705.
